Fr Peter writes   ...as I write this I am packing my bag to go away for the week for my Christmas break (I’m always slow on getting myself organised !!)  It gives me a chance to reflect on the importance of rest in our lives.  Sunday has always been presented in the Christian tradition as a day of rest following the Jewish custom (in the Ten Commandments) of resting on Saturday.

We all lead such busy lives and we can be in great danger of losing the balance in our lives.  Sometimes other priests tell me that they have not had a day off for weeks and I tell them off - then I find myself doing it and then I really have to sit down and think about it.

Perhaps we all need to check that balance in our lives from time to time ?
